Exhibition «Ceramics and Architecture»

The 4th thematic exhibition is dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of Zaporizhzhya Museum-Gallery of Applied Ceramics and Art Creativity of Ilya and Alexei Burlai.

On the 18th of June, 2008 in an ancient apartment at a depth of 5 meters in historical part of the city of Zaporizhzhya in the mouth of the Mokraya Moskovka river opposite south-eastern part of the Khortytsa island in honor of the 90th anniversary of honored artist of Tatar ASSR and winner of G.Tukai award Alexei Petrovich Burlai, the Museum-Gallery was opened. The museum has a scientific, creative, cultural and pedagogical focus. Within the framework of the project «Museum and School» carried out by the founder of the Museum-Gallery Valentina Batalkina (born Burlai-Hiltmann) some aesthetic, cultural and educational events are carried out.

More than 500 young participants of the festival «The House of My Dream» from Ukraine, Russia, Germany presented their architectural «dream houses» inspired by seeing the exhibits of the Museum and drawn on the premises of the Museum-Gallery.

Professional Zaporizhzhya artists Yegorov Boris Kuz’mich (b.1925), Karmaz’ Nikolay Afanasyevich (b.1927), Logvinov Pavel Fedorovich (b.1927), Latansky Sergey Vasilyevich (b. 1929), Gertsenok Victor Andreyevich (b.1934) depict in their artistic works: paintings, drawings and sculptures the beauty of Zaporizhzhya land, new buildings of housing complexes in ХХ century, ancient family houses inspired by reality, remembrances and dreams.

Alexandr Alexeyevich Burlai, honored architect of Russia, shows at the exhibition the architectural projects of ХХI of century.
The amateur artist Konstantin Antonets, while helping to collect materials for the Museum-Gallery about the building ceramics of the Zaporizhzhya land, depicted in water-colors and pencil the documentary images of old houses which show to exhibition visitor the beauty of a structure and architectural idea of its owner.

The exhibits of building ceramics of old Aleksandrovsk which were found in the city of Zaporizhzhya and in the Zaporizhzhya area are presented at the exhibition. Books and documentary photographs show architecture of different countries of the world and tell about history of building ceramics.

The exhibition «Ceramics and Architecture» by means of pictures of professional artists, photos of documentary and artistic works of Ilya and Alexei Burlai, as well as the exhibits of old ceramics, maps and books of many countries of the world, tells about building ceramics as a very essential part of human life. Preservation of history of ceramics and architecture is a preservation of world history of engineering science.

The exhibition was opened with a musical concert «Music in paintings» performed by the students and teachers of Zaporizhzhya children’s music school No.6.
