Lesson of N.Yu. Novichkova. Your honour, sir fire brigade chief

Fire brigade chief is a public officer appointed as a leader of fire brigade.

In dealing with subordinates he must be strict and demanding when they perform their official duties during a fire drill or fire extinguishing, but he must always be gentle and affable in his free time and, most importantly, must be equally fair to all.

The uniform of the Fire Brigade Chief

The double-breasted coat was made of dark green cloth with 12 metal buttons, blue collar and blue edge on the cuffs. The collar and cuffs were decorated with silver buttonholes.

The cap was made of dark-green cloth with a blue band and cockade.

The trousers were made of gray-blue cloth with blue edging.

In response to the greeting of the Fire Brigade Chief the lower ranks had to say, “Good day, sir!”, if the Chief thanked them for their service they had to say, “At your command, sir!”

When the Fire Brigade Chief announced any promotion, the lower ranks had to say “Thank you very much, sir” and when he was saying goodbye, “Good luck, sir!”

“Service in the fire brigade, which has for its aim the protection of property and often saving the precious gift of God, the life of a human being, is a noble, honest and highly moral cause.”

“In time of adversity a firefighter appears before unfortunate victims of flames as the first and main defender in whom dying people see their savior.”
